Análisis de índices extremos de temperatura y precipitación en las regiones de Albacete y Murcia

Abstract

The South-East of Spain conforms an extended area susceptible of suffering great temperature and rainfall extreme episodes, e.g, summer heatwaves, or autumn torrential rainfall feeded by a warm Mediterranean Sea. These events are translated, directly, in a stress factor for the inhabitants, and indirectly, in the economical activities. This study focuses on Albacete and Murcia regions, where the economy is based, among others, on agriculture activities, which are very dependent on climate conditions. Different extreme temperature and rainfall IPCC indices are analyzed: warmest maximum (minimum) temperature (TXx, TNx) and warm days (nights) (TX90p, TN90p) for the former; and wettest day (RX1day), consecutive dry days (CDD), and extreme rainfall days, for the latter. The results show an increase in temperature extreme events (values and frequency) in both regions, nonetheless, precipitation extremes exhibit a non-clear tendency which must be further studied.
