Caracterización de la precipitación en la meseta sur (Castilla–La Mancha y Comunidad de Madrid) en el periodo 1951–2020

Abstract

The Southern Plateau is located in the interior of the peninsula. It is surrounded by mountain chains (altitudes greater than 2000m) that prevent the arrival of rains from the northwest to the east, but allow the influence of the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean Sea. In this study we have used daily precipitation data from the State Meteorological Agency. We have determined that the average annual precipitation has decreased in the mountains and that there is no clear trend in the rest. On the other hand, we have seen a decrease in rainy days, especially in winter, and a slight increase in torrential rain in spring and summer.
