Fenómenos de teleconexión asociados a la variabilidad de la precipitación y la temperatura en Albacete y Murcia

Abstract

After a previous work about weather and climate extremes in Albacete and Murcia regions, now we study the effects of different teleconnections on the variability of temperature and precipitation in these specific regions, whose agriculture-oriented sector is fundamental to the local economy. For the study, temperature and precipitation indices are selected, to study possible teleconnections through correlation methods, using sea surface temperature and sea level pressure data. Furthermore, using 500 hPa geopotential height data, we have classified the atmospheric situations in four weather regimes using cluster methodology, and the sea surface temperature teleconnections with these weather regimes have been analyzed, searching for possible predictability. Some of the teleconnections found along this work involve the El Niño-Southern Oscillation, Pacific Decadal Oscillation and North Atlantic Oscillation.
