Colaboración CSIC-AEMET para el desarrollo de servicios climáticos operacionales

Abstract

One of the main objectives of the Interdisciplinary Thematic Platform PTI+ "Climate and Climate Services" of the CSIC, in collaboration with the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), is the development and implementation of 10 operational thematic climate services for the whole Spanish territory. These tools will support research and decision-making by administrations, private sector and citizens. The climate services have passed the prototype phase and are currently incorporating new functionalities with the aim of being operational as of June 2026. The topics of the 10 services are very diverse: i) Seasonal forecast,, ii) meteorological risk of forest fires, iii) meteorological drought, iv) agroclimatology, v) climate change indicators, vi) heat and cold waves, vii) extreme precipitation events, viii) wind, ix) radiation and x) attribution of extremes to climate change. As a general framework, these climate services cover climatology, monitoring, early warning, seasonal and multidecadal projections time scales.
