Evolución de las temperaturas máxima y mínima diaria en Zaragoza, Barcelona y Madrid en la segunda mitad del siglo XX

Abstract

[ES]El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la evolución de la temperatura en tres ciudades españolas, Zaragoza, Madrid y Barcelona, a partir de los datos de temperatura máxima (Tx) y mínima (Tn) diarias del intervalo 1951-2003. Aunque lo habitual es hacer este análisis por estaciones, hemos encontrado que esa escala temporal puede resultar inadecuada y que es necesario determinar los periodos donde la evolución es homogénea y diferente. En los siete periodos que hemos distinguido se analiza la evolución de Tx, Tn y del rango térmico diario, Tx-Tn. Asimismo, se estudia la evolución de la variabilidad observada en Tx y Tn. Entre los resultados obtenidos destacaremos: (a) el similar patrón de evolución de Tx y Tn; (b) el elevado grado de concordancia entre las evoluciones de las tres ciudades, observándose las mayores diferencias entre Madrid y Barcelona y representando Zaragoza una situación intermedia entre ambas; (c) los periodos de mayor cambio son el final del invierno y el inicio del verano y el más estable Noviembre-Diciembre; (d) desde el inicio de los 90, en el centro del verano, Julio-Agosto, la tendencia de Tx y Tn es decreciente en Madrid y ligeramente positiva en Zaragoza.

[EN]The aim of this work is to analyse the temperature evolution during the period 1951-2003 in three Spanish locations, Zaragoza, Madrid and Barcelona, using daily maximum and minimum temperature data, Tx and Tn respectively. This type of analysis is usually performed seasonally but we found that such time scale is not adequate and that, in order to properly analyse the observed changes, it is necessary to determine the periods where the temperature evolution is homogeneous. We identify throughout the year seven different periods where we analyse Tx, Tn and the daily temperature range, Tx-Tn, evolution. The change in Tx and Tn variability is also studied. Regarding the results obtained we emphasize that: (a) Tx and Tn evolves in a similar way; (b) the affinity among the studied locations is also high: Madrid and Barcelona are the most different and Zaragoza combines elements of both; (c) the end of winter and the beginning of the summer are the periods where bigger changes are observed, while the autumn is the most stable season; (d) from the beginning of the 90's Tx and Tn trends are decreasing in Madrid and slightly positive in Zaragoza.
